Stevenson Finishes Undefeated Regular Season

Sterling Heights - In a possible playoff preview between two Macomb Area Conference Champions Warren Mott (MAC White) and #1 Sterling Heights Stevenson (MAC Red), it was the Titans that dominated another opponent 49-21 to complete their undefeated regular season.

Like most Stevenson games this season, the Titans put the game out of reach in the 1st Half. Stevenson got on the board first at the 7:33 mark of the 1st Quarter on a 27-yard touchdown run by senior Running Back Justice Wright.

After a slow start by his standards (1 for 5), Titan QB Jason Fracassa found his groove and connected with WR Marcus Beaurem for an 18-yard touchdown to put Stevenson ahead 14-0.

After Mott got on the board with a Ben Fillimon touchdown, Stevenson would answer and slam the door on any thoughts of a Marauder comeback. Justice Wright would find the end zone again with a 4-yard touchdown run with 10:21 left to play in the 2nd Quarter.

As the rain started to fall everyone knew Mott needed to cut into the Titan lead quickly if they wanted to have any chance of an upset. As Mott took to the air, it proved to be the nail in the coffin.

Stevenson CB Eugene Pratt made a nice play on the ball to intercept a Fillimon pass. His return gave Stevenson the ball on the Mott 6-yard line. On the following play, Wright would score his 3rd touchdown of the 1st Half.

As Mott fell behind by three touchdowns, you could see the energy leave the Marauder sidelines. Stevenson would not let up as Fracassa would throw two more touchdown passes in the quarter, one to WR D.J. Mershman and another to Beaurem. Stevenson would take a 42-7 lead into halftime and never look back.

Fracassa, who only played in the 1st Half, finished 11-20 for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns. Justice Wright had 10 receptions for 55 yards and ran the ball 13 times for 81 yards and 3 touchdowns. Marcus Beaurem had 4 receptions for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Stevenson (9-0) has played great football all season long will be one of the favorites heading into the state playoffs. Mott (7-2) will look to rebound after an embarrassing performance. Mott has a lot to prove in the playoffs as both of their losses this season (Romeo & Stevenson) were blowouts. It is time to find out just how good the Marauders are. Expect both teams to host a 1st Round playoff game.
