Publicly, both teams will say that Saturday's game is just another game. But when Detroit Cass Technical and Detroit Martin Luther King get together, the entire state knows that it's not a normal game. In fact, Rivals.com ranked it as the No.9 best high school in the country this fall. Historically, Cass Tech vs. King has always been a must-see game, but this year's highly anticipated match-up intensifies the rivalry even more. The numbers will tell you why.

24 Division I offered prospects: In any given game on a Friday night in Michigan, one would be lucky to go and see a game with 3-4 Division I players playing in it. Cass Tech/King has a whopping, 24 Division I offered players playing in it. Cass Tech leads the way with an amazing, 17 players, while King still impresses, with 7. That's just not normal for a regular league game in most places around the country. Get your popcorn ready.
10 committed players: Cass Tech vs. King has a lot of hype to it, but the game itself should be just as good. In what should be a close one, the game will feature 10 players that are already committed to Division I schools, including 4 to the Big Ten, and 1 to the Big 12. Cass Tech has 6 of those players (Onwenu-Michigan, Vance-Michigan State, Walton-Illinois, Clemons-Indiana State, Mathews-Toledo, Paul-Cincinnati. While King has 4 themselves (Hill-Penn State, Pettaway-West Virginia, Boyd-Western Michigan, Page-Central Michigan. That number could grow in five days, but probably not, with several underclassmen holding offers, including 5 with Power Five Conference offers.
6: The number of wins Cass Tech has against King in their last ten meetings together, dating back to 2006. The Technicians have also beaten the Crusaders in the last two Detroit Public School League city title games. The last time King defeated Cass Tech was in 2012, when they put a 44-13 whooping on them.
25: King has always prided itself in playing defense, and on paper, has one of the best defenses it has had in years. The Crusaders have only given up 25 points this year to their opponents, through four games. They love to really get after the quarterback with their blitzes, and their back seven is one of the best in the state. Their linebackers, led by Cepeda Phillips, Lawrence Bryant, and Armani Posey, swarm to the ball. While Hill and Corley can be lockdown defenders in the passing game.
178: The number of points Cass Tech has scored on its opponents this season so far, including a 62-19 beating of Detroit Renaissance this past Friday. The Technicians like to score the ball, and they can do it in a lot of ways. Junior quarterback, Rodney Hall, is much improved player, with a lot of weapons to throw it to in the backfield, or on the perimeter. His legs are also a weapon, in nothing is open down field. He tallied 370 total yards, and 6 touchdowns in his last game.
1 and 2: Many regard King and Cass Tech as the top two teams in the state, respectively. And while this is a big game on paper, it's also for city bragging rights. Both teams live to play this game, and when the ball kicks off, it's all business. Not too many rivalries in the state can compare to what Cass Tech/King brings to the table, especially in these times. The game will be played at King, this Saturday at 12 noon, so get there early.
