2017 ATH Ambry Thomas shocked by Michigan offer

Detroit King sophomore athlete, Ambry Thomas, received his first Big Ten offer of the process on Thursday, when the Michigan Wolverines came calling for him. And they literally came calling for him.
"Coach Fisch came up to the school looking for me," Thomas said. "I met him, and I only got to talk to him for about 20 seconds. But he asked me for my GPA, then he offered me.

"I didn't know I was going to get it honestly, but I was really shocked, and really wasn't expecting it."
Thomas is a 5-11, 165-pound speedster, who can play on either side of the ball at the next level. He is definitely an instate kid that Michigan had to offer, with what he can do on the field. Most schools like him at defensive back, but me might be able to play offense at Michigan.
"I didn't even know they were that interested in me to offer me," Thomas said. "I honestly don't know where they like me at, but my recruiting position is defensive back. But I talked to the wide receivers coach. He's the one who came to see me."
It's very early in the process for Thomas, and like all of the other schools that have offered him, he wants to see more before he starts picking favorites. He has visited Michigan before, and plans to get back there very soon to see what they have to offer.
"I like Michigan," he said. "I feel like when I get to meet the coaching staff more, I would be more interested in them.
"They actually want me to come down on May 30th or 31st for the top 2017 players in Michigan that they have offered."
Aside from Michigan, Thomas plans to also visit Penn State again, where current teammate at King, LaVert Hill, is a 2016 commit.
