2016 SG Jarron Cumberland set to visit Michigan

FT.WAYNE, Ind. - Quincey Simpson is a well respected high school, and AAU head coach in the state of Ohio, and while watching his son's King James 17-Under team play at Spiece, all the talk was about the game junior shooting guard, Jarron Cumberland, was having. Cumberland was aggressive from the jump, and led his team to victory with 24 points on 11-17 shooting, causing Simpson to call him the best scorer in Ohio.
"I believe it too," Cumberland said of Simpson's statement. "I do believe I am the best scorer in the state. I can score whenever I want to, one-on-one with a mismatch, or if I have a big man, I can take him out, or I have little guy, I can put him in the post.

"I wasn't hitting my threes today, so I drove a lot, and I worked on my pull-up a lot. I was able to work on things I needed to improve on here."
Simpson wasn't the only one to see what gifts the 6-5, 210-pound guard possesses scoring the ball. Michigan, and a handful of other schools have also recognized what he can do with the ball, combined with his tremendous size, and have made their presence known in Cumberland's recruitment, who Rivals.com ranks as the No.64 best player in the country.
"I have offers Cincinnati, Xavier,Purdue and Butler, and Michigan said they are going to offer me as well when I visit," said Cumberland. "Michigan said I can score, and that they needed a scorer like me, and that I was tough."
Cumberland said he plans to visits Michigan sometime in June, but that no official date has been set yet. There is certainly mutual interest from Cumberland, who said he was excited about the future visit to what would be his biggest offer yet, in Michigan, if he was to land one. And he was confident that he would.
"I'm from Ohio, but I do like Michigan," said Cumberland. "It is a Big Ten school, my family likes it, and it is one of the schools that I will think about.
"Coach LaVall (Jordan) keeps in touch with me, and talks about how badly he needs me. I wasn't their primary guy, but he watched me in Lexington last weekend, and he said I could go, and how bad they want me now."
Cumberland seemed very interested in the Wolverines, but you can expect more schools to come calling for him as well, as his stock continues to rise. He averaged 17.7 points per game as a freshman, and 22.4 as a sophomore at Wilmington High, so Cumberland has always had the gift of scoring in his game. Michigan could certainly use someone like Cumberland on their roster, who will be Big Ten ready body wise, so his it will be important that they get him on campus, and to impress him.
