Southfield 2018 RB Eric McArn picks up first offer

Southfield (Mich.) sophomore running back, Eric McArn, was in his 7th hour Integrated Science class on Wednesday when his cell phone kept ringing out of control. McArn ignored the phone at first, because he was doing his school work, but finally decided to check his phone, and saw that he had am important message from his coach at Southfield, Reggie Wynns.
"When I finally decided to check my phone, I saw the message 'Toledo has offered you, congrats'", McArn said. "I couldn't believe what I had seen. I stared at the message for about five minutes, and my face lit up like it was Christmas. I was very excited, and I couldn't wait to tell my mom.

"She was in shock too. She couldn't believe it, and she congratulated me. She said that this doesn't mean that I can't stop working hard, and this is only the beginning. She was very enthusiastic."
Blessed and honored to announce that I have received my 1st offer from the University Of Toledo #Blessed 🙏 pic.twitter.com/nbyBUgF2X7- Next Up (@ReddHead21) October 14, 2015
The offer from Toledo is No.1 for the 5-10, 210-pounder, McArn, who said he was very honored and blessed to receive his first scholarship offer. McArn said he doesn't know much about the Toledo program, but he will sooner than later. This Saturday, Toledo plays Eastern Michigan at home.
"I will be visiting Toledo this weekend to get to know more about the program, said McArn. 'I want to see what there offensive style is like, and see how much they utilize their running backs."
McArn said he hasn't been hearing from any other schools, but with his first offer in from Toledo, he may need to leave his phone in his locker during school.
Southfield has a 5-2 record on the year, with a huge rivalry game against Oak Park (Mich.) looming on Friday. McArn has had a solid season as the starting running back for the Bluejays, rushing for 607 yards and seven touchdowns. His coaches rave about his ability, and for someone who is in the 10th grade, he surely isn't built like one. McArn actually wasn't supposed to start for Southfield, but when Michigan commit, Matt Falcon, went down with another knee injury, he was thrust into the spotlight. The experience has gone better than he expected.
"My season has been going pretty good," he said. "Coming in as sophomore, I thought it was going to be a learning year, and I wasn't going to get as many carries. But it has been the complete opposite. I feel that I've done a great job for my first year of playing high school varsity football."
