Brother Rice 2018 QB Steven Krajewski battling for starting spot

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - The starting quarterback job at Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) Brother Rice has become a prestigious one, especially with what their last two quarterbacks have accomplished. Cheyne Lacanaria (2013 graduate), and Michigan commit Alex Malzone (2015 graduate) both won a state title (Malzone-2), so they have certainly set the bar high.
The Warriors will have a quarterback battle this summer, and sophomore, Steve Krajewski, hopes that his name is called when head coach Dave Sofran chooses his man. He and his Brother Rice teammates participated in 7-on-7 event on Wednesday, which Krajewski said was very beneficial to him.

"It's always good to come out here and get some reps in, and compete with other guys," Krajewski said. "It's good to see what the other teams are all about, and to come out here and play."
Krawjewski is in competition with an upperclassmen, John Tracy, and the two didn't make it easier for the other at the 7-on-7. Both are big young kids at 6-3, 175-pounds, with big arms, so the future is bright for the Warriors' offense, whoever lands the job.
"It's going great," said Krajewski on the position battle with Tracy. "We are fighting to see who is going to get that spot. For the most part, we have been competing evenly, and nothing has been decided. So I am just going to keep competing to see how it goes.
"I think my chances are very good. I've been working my tail off, going to as many workouts as I can, and just working hard. To follow behind Malzone and Lacanaria there is an honor. They've taught me so much on what it means to be a Brother Rice quarterback."
Brother Rice is inserting a new starting quarterback this season, and has to replace a bunch of starters on both sides of the ball, so many are expecting a down year for the Warriors. But even with all the new change there, Krajewski feels that they will run like a well oiled machine in 2015.
"People are going to talk, and assume a bunch of stuff," he said. "But we are going to come out stronger than ever I feel. We are going to come out and have a very good season."
On the recruiting front, Krajewski hasn't had much movement, because he has no varsity experience, which is why winning the starting quarterback job at Brother Rice, and performing well, is important for him. He has heard from a few school, mainly about keeping in touch, but he's young, and has a lot of potential.
"I've been talking to a few small colleges," Krajewski said. "I've talked to Minnesota, and a lot of coaches at the Sound Mind Sound Body Camp. I talked to the Oregon coach, Jim Harbaugh, and Coach Salem at Michigan State.
"The recruiting process is a long process, and my time will come. I just have to keep working hard, and focus on the most important things."
