2017 OL-DL Jordan Reid talks Florida offer

Florida doesn't offer many football prospects up here in Michigan, so Detroit Cass Tech junior two-way lineman, Jordan Reid, went down to the swamp this past weekend to earn himself an offer from the Gators. The 6-4, 284-pounder has another SEC offer already, from Tennessee, and six total offers to his name, but an offer from Florida means a lot.
Reid traveled down to Gainesville with two of his Cass Tech teammates, senior safety and Michigan State commit, Demetric Vance, and junior wide out, Donovan Peoples-Jones, who both now hold an offer from Florida as well. Reid was offered an offensive lineman.

"I went down there for Friday Night Lights, and I really enjoyed the campus, and it was good weather there too," said Reid. " I balled out at the camp, and I had a good testing period, I did really good on offense during 1-on-1's, and I talked to the offensive line coach, Coach Summers.
"I sat in the office with Coach Summers, and we just talked, and went over some stuff, and then after 15 minutes of talking with him, we went down to the head coach's office, Coach McElwain, and we just talked , and he said he wants me to be a Gator. he was excited about it, and they gave me a scholarship."
Reid was excited himself. For someone who hasn't played much at all, but oozes with potential, a Florida offer is a big step for him in the recruiting process to getting SEC attention.
"I was very surprised and excited," said Reid. "I knew I had balled out, but I wasn't expecting an offer. I just went out there and did my job on the field, and good things just came towards me.
"It means a lot to get attention from schools like Florida, after not really playing this past season, I had to prove myself to everybody, bust my butt, and perform against good competition."
As any high school football recruit in the country would be, Reid has interest in Florida. It's very early in the process for him, and he figures to garner a lot more attention from big time programs, but Florida will have a shot with him, for now.
"It is definitely a school I will keep in mind for academics and football for sure," Reid said. "My head coach, Coach Wilcher, said we might go back down there for a game this fall, so I'm looking forward to doing that. I never been down there for a game, so it should be fun."
Wisconsin is also another big time school Reid is high on, despite not having an offer from them yet. The Badgers are well-known for breeding top offensive lineman, so it's easy to see why Reid likes them a lot.
"I'm very interested in Wisconsin right now," he said. "I went up there my freshman year for a visit, and I'm looking to get back up there for a camp and a game. That was my first college visit, as far as the Big Ten goes, and I really enjoyed it. Now that I'm more mature, I can really embrace things in a different way, and I think it'll be good for me to go back up there and check things out."
The season is just about a month away, and Reid and his teammates are gearing up for another exciting year of Cass Tech football. The bar has been raised high for this team, and they don't want to disappoint. One of the strong points on this year's team will be the offensive line, with Reid, Michigan commit, Michael Onwenu, and several other Division I prospects like Ostell Martin, Edrick Matthews, Traeshon Trotter, and Alvin Clemons, holding it down. We all know that everything starts in the trenches, and Cass Tech will certainly be prepared for that.
"Right now we are just focused on practicing, and working hard," said Reid. "Everything starts along the lines, and that's what wins games. If you don't have any blockers, you won't win. We have been working really hard.
"We have the best offensive line in the state, and right now, we just looking forward to busting out butts together, and winning a state championship."
