Black Knights pick up commit #5, OL, Michael Kime

Once Michael Kime received his offer from Army, it didn't take long for the offensive center/defensive lineman to give his verbal commit to Black Knights.

Kime, who is out of Culver (Ind.) Culver Academies received the offer on his birthday which was November 18th. "They sent me the offer on the 18th and I talked it over with my parents during the Thanksgiving break," shares the 6-foot-1, 250 Kime. "I felt that there was no better place for me than to play at Army."

Kime recruiting has been handled by Coach Joe Ross and it was the special team coach who was first on the Army staff to receive the good news.

"I told him that I had been thinking about it, that I wanted to attend the school that is the number one school in the nation and I would like to verbally commit and he said that is awesome … he was very excited.," declares Kime, who indicated that Head Coach Ellerson would like him to go direct, but if they wanted him to go the prep school, that would fine with him as well.

FAMILIAR SURROUNDINGS

At Culver Academies, they run the triple option offense, very similar to that of Army.

In addition to being familiar with the Black Knights' offense, Kime will be walking in the footsteps of his father, Bill, who is a 1985 graduate of West Point and played for former Army head coach Jim Young.

Army - Navy Game

"I won't be attending, but will be watching," says Kime. "Actually my neighbor committed to Navy for lacrosse, so we have been doing a lot of trash talking.

A group of us are going to be watching the game on Saturday. One group rooting for Army and the other group for Navy."

Beyond the game itself, Kime was quick to express his excitement about the future of Army football. "Coach Ellerson is doing a great job and if they beat Navy, actually when they beat Navy, they will be going to a bowl. I'm pumped about the program and excited to be a Black Knight."

GoBlackKnights.com congratulates Cody Jackson on his verbal commitment to play for the Army Black Knights and join the Long Gray Line.
