Based on what SpartanMag.com is hearing, Michigan State will be looking to add a kicker to the class of 2013. One of the best prospects in the Midwest is J.J. McGrath of Lutheran North High School. SpartanMag.com caught up with the 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect and has the latest.
With Dan Conroy heading into his senior season and Kevin Muma the Spartans are taking a look at a kicking prospect. We asked McGrath what type of information he has received from the Spartan staff about a potential scholarship offer.

"Michigan State has said that they will offer a red-shirt kicking position but, also want a punter which is why Coach Tress is also interested in my punting. I love Michigan State. My mother's side of the family went there as well as most of my high school friends and former high school friends (Holt High School). I love the unity of the players, the coaching staff, and I'm actually very close with Sadler, Muma, and Conroy. It's a huge family, and if I can join my buddy Jon Reschke and commit there that'd be awesome. We'll see though."

Kicker and puntyer do not make the tradition NIKE, Undr Armour or Adidas Camp rounds. Mor eofthe than not they ar eoffered after performing well at colleg summer caps or after doing well at secilaized kicking camps. We aksed McGrath about some of his accolades as far as kicking and punting and his personal best numbers.

I have received Army All American (Nomination only, Top Gun in July to seal the deal), All-Catholic 1st Team, All-State East 1st Team and All-State Division 4-8 1st Team. I have the 8th Longest FG in state history of 52yds and a punting average of 44.6 yards. I won the Kohls FG completion with a 58-yard filed goal. Last year I was 8 of 12 on filed goals with all misses coming from over 50-yards. Kicking.com ranks be the #2 prospect in America.

The kicking an puintiung combimnation makes McGrath a very intriguing propct for Michigan Sgate. M
SpartanMag.com asked McGarth about receiove a Michigan State offer and some of the other school she is intyereste din.

"I'm looking for a place where I can walk on campus and my whole mind set is just: Let's go work, as well as feeling at "home." Along with those two accolades, to me the people really make the University. I am also interested in the SEC, because the people down south are really great and genuine. If the Spartans we're to offer me, I would have to take a few weeks with my family and pray about it. Just to figure out where my next step is and where God wants me to continue his mission. I'm open to exploring new places or staying in East Lansing, everything will work itself out."

McGrath will be in East Lansing in the month of June to showcase his talents t the Spartsn staff. You can be sure the taff will be very thurough in therio evaluation of him. Spartsnmag.com will be keeping tables on McGraths recruitment and will be sure ot keep Michigan stte fanms update ed on this outstanding in-state prospect.
